On December 9, 2024, a horrifying accident involving a Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) bus in Kurla, Mumbai, claimed six lives and left 49 others injured. The incident occurred around 9:30 PM on SG Barve Marg when the bus, reportedly due to a brake failure, lost control and rammed into pedestrians, vehicles, and a residential complex wall.

The bus, traveling from Kurla station to Andheri, collided with 30-40 vehicles, including autorickshaws and motorcycles, creating panic among locals. Eyewitnesses compared the devastation to a “terror attack” due to the widespread destruction and injuries.

Victims identified include Kannis Fatima Ansari, Shivam Kashyap, Afreen Abdul Salim Shah, and Anam Shaikh. Emergency responders quickly transported the injured to nearby hospitals, with several in critical condition.
