Mumbai Police are on high alert following a death threat against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The threat, sent to the Mumbai Traffic Control Room on 2 November 2024 from an unidentified number, demanded that Adityanath resign within 10 days or face assassination. The message ominously referenced the recent killing of former NCP leader Baba Siddique, stating Adityanath would be killed “like Baba Siddique” if he did not comply.
In response, security has been intensified around Adityanath, who is expected to visit Maharashtra to campaign for the upcoming state assembly elections. Police are actively investigating the source of the threat and working to trace the sender.
The threat has sparked additional security concerns following the October 12 assassination of Baba Siddique, who was fatally shot during Dussehra celebrations. The incident raised alarms about the safety of political figures in Maharashtra, and this latest development has led to increased vigilance among law enforcement agencies.
