The vibrant atmosphere of Lakmé Fashion Week 2024 has swept over Delhi, captivating fashion enthusiasts and celebrities alike since its grand opening on 9 October. This year’s edition celebrates creativity, sustainability, and haute couture, drawing global attention.As the lights dimmed and the music rose, the runway became a canvas for the rich tapestry of Indian fashion. Bollywood icons graced the stage as showstoppers, adding star power to the collections of some of India’s most renowned designers.

On 12 October, actress Shilpa Shetty stunned the audience in an ethereal blush pink lehenga designed by Megha Bansal. The costume, from Bansal’s collection Khwaab—Khwaishyon Ka Shamiyana, had elaborate floral designs and sparkling sequins, giving it a fairytale-like beauty. Soft waves framed Shilpa’s face, and light makeup accentuated her innate beauty, giving her the appearance of a modern-day princess.

Sobhita Dhulipala made a grand impression as she walked the ramp for designer Punit Balana in a stunning gold-accented lehenga with purple piping. The bold yet elegant outfit, paired with minimal jewellery, allowed Sobhita’s sophisticated look to take centre stage.

Diana Penty, another highlight of the day, wowed the audience in a dreamy pastel lehenga from Romaa’s latest collection. The soft pink tones and delicate floral details created a vision of timeless grace, amplified by Diana’s simple accessories and glowing makeup.

One of the standout moments of this edition was the whimsical opening show by Péro, which celebrated its 15th anniversary with a playful collection inspired by Hello Kitty. Designer Aneeth Arora transformed the runway into a “Kittyverse,” featuring nostalgic elements and fun designs like checkered dresses paired with denim and baseball caps, exuding a chic, youthful energy.

Sustainability remains a central theme of Lakmé Fashion Week 2024, with designers encouraged to incorporate eco-friendly practices into their collections. This focus reflects the industry’s growing commitment to environmental consciousness and ethical fashion.
