India’s Chess Masters Create History with Double Gold at 45th FIDE Chess Olympiad

India’s chess masters have made history by clinching team gold medals in both the men’s and women’s competitions at the 45th International Chess Federation (FIDE) Chess Olympiad in Budapest. This monumental achievement is a proud moment for the nation, solidifying India’s dominance in the global chess arena.

Team Winners
In the men’s category, Vidit Gujrathi, Pentala Harikrishna, Arjun Erigaisi S.L. Narayanan, andR. Praggnanandhaa  formed the formidable team that led India to gold. Their collective effort, strategic brilliance, and calm under pressure were key to their triumph.

In the women’s category, Koneru Humpy, Dronavalli Harika, R. Vaishali, Tania Sachdev, and Bhakti Kulkarni delivered flawless performance, dominating the tournament and securing gold with sheer determination and expertise.

Individual Winners
Adding to the team success, India also claimed four individual gold medals. R. Praggnanandhaa , known for his sharp tactical mind, shone with his individual performance in the men’s category. On the women’s side, Koneru Humpy and Dronavalli Harika  earned individual golds for their outstanding performances, while  R. Vaishali  added another individual gold to India’s tally with her consistent play throughout the tournament.

As the tournament wrapped up in the Hungarian capital on Sunday, the Indian contingent left an indelible mark on the world chess stage. Their historic success continues to inspire and fill the nation with immense pride.
