In a recent turn of events, Telangana Minister Konda Surekha found herself at the center of a media storm after making controversial remarks linking the divorce of popular actors Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya to BRS leader K.T. Rama Rao (KTR).
The Allegations
During a public address, Surekha claimed that KTR was involved in phone tapping and blackmailing actresses, suggesting that his actions played a significant role in the separation of the celebrity couple. She boldly stated, “KTR was the reason behind the divorce of Naga Chaitanya and Samantha,” further alleging that his influence led actresses to leave the film industry or marry early due to manipulation and drug-related issues.
Samantha’s Response
Samantha quickly took to social media to address the minister’s comments, emphasizing that her divorce was a “personal matter” reached by “mutual consent and amicable” means. She expressed her discontent with the politicization of her private life, urging the minister to respect her privacy. “It’s disheartening to see my situation used for political gain,” she wrote, highlighting the challenges women in the industry face.
Naga Chaitanya’s Reaction
Naga Chaitanya did not remain silent either. He responded firmly to Surekha’s allegations, labeling them as “absolutely ridiculous and baseless.” He clarified that his separation from Samantha was a mutual decision made after considerable thought, underscoring that it was a painful yet respectful choice due to their differing life goals. Chaitanya condemned the minister’s remarks as false and unacceptable, stating, “Women deserve to be supported and respected,” and criticized the exploitation of personal matters for media attention.
Legal Action and Retraction
The controversy escalated further when KTR himself issued a legal notice demanding an unconditional apology from Minister Surekha for her statements. He warned of potential legal action if she failed to retract her comments. Following this pressure, Surekha publicly retracted her statements, acknowledging the backlash and expressing regret for any distress caused.
