In a landmark move for India’s defence sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez jointly inaugurated India’s first private military aircraft manufacturing facility in Vadodara, Gujarat. The Tata Aircraft Complex, developed by Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) in collaboration with Airbus, will produce the C-295 military transport aircraft, marking a milestone in India’s mission to boost Indigenous defence production.

The new TASL-Airbus plant will manufacture 40 of the 56 C-295 aircraft ordered by the Indian Air Force under a $2.5 billion contract signed in September 2021. The first aircraft from this state-of-the-art facility is expected to roll out by 2026, enhancing India’s aviation manufacturing and military transport capabilities.
